There’s no hard sell, no pressure and no need to arrive with your entire wedding planned down to the napkin colour. Our Open Day is simply an opportunity to see The Fleece dressed for a wedding, explore the venue at your own pace and decide whether it feels like your place.

Come in, grab a glass of bubbly and have a wander

You’ll be welcomed with a complimentary glass of bubbly, before being free to explore our countryside wedding venue in Barkisland, near Halifax.

Our Event Manager and Event Coordinators will be around throughout the afternoon, so you can ask as many — or as few — questions as you like. We can talk you through how weddings work at The Fleece, answer questions about packages, check availability for the dates you have in mind and help you picture what your own celebration could look like here.

Or you can simply have a nosy around first. We’re in Yorkshire; we understand the importance of a good nosy.

See The Fleece dressed for a wedding

Our main wedding space will be fully dressed and set for a wedding breakfast, giving you the chance to see how the room looks when everything comes together.

The same beautiful space can also host your civil wedding ceremony, before being transformed for your wedding breakfast later in the day.

If you choose to hold both your ceremony and wedding breakfast with us, you certainly won’t be expected to stand around watching us move tables. While our team works their magic and transforms the room, you and your guests can head to your private bar area and outdoor terrace, have a drink and take in the countryside views.

It’s a rather nice way to spend the time.

Explore the bedrooms too

A wedding isn’t only about the reception room, so during the Open Day you’ll also have the opportunity to see more of the inn.

We’ll be opening our Honeymoon Suite for couples to explore, as well as one of our family bedrooms, so you can get a feel for the accommodation available for you and your guests.

It means you can picture the whole experience — from getting married and celebrating with everyone you love to finally closing the door of the Honeymoon Suite at the end of a very good day.

Finding suppliers you trust can be one of the biggest jobs on the wedding-planning list, so we’ll also be joined by a selection of our trusted recommended wedding suppliers.

You can meet them face-to-face, see some of their work and chat informally about your ideas. There’s absolutely no obligation to book anything; they’re simply there to help, offer inspiration and answer questions.

And because wedding planning is considerably nicer with something tasty in hand, there’ll also be canapés to sample and cocktail tasters from our cocktail bar while you look around.

Already wondering about a particular wedding date?

If you haven’t booked your wedding venue yet, you don’t need to book a place at our Open Day. Just come along between 1pm and 4pm.

If there is a particular date you’ve got your eye on, our team can check wedding date availability for you while you’re here.

And if you explore The Fleece, get that feeling and decide you really don’t want somebody else pinching your date, you’ll also have the option to secure it during the Open Day.

Our non-refundable wedding booking fee is £500, which secures your chosen date.

So you could arrive on Sunday afternoon for a glass of bubbly and leave having officially booked your wedding at The Fleece.

Prefer to come back and talk everything through properly?

You don’t need to make any decisions at the Open Day.

If you love what you see but would rather go away, have a chat together and come back when things are a little quieter, we’d be delighted to arrange a private wedding viewing afterwards.

That’s your opportunity for a more personal appointment with our team. We’ll take you around the venue, sit down with you and spend more time discussing your plans, ideas, guest numbers, dates and all those little details that make your wedding yours.

The Open Day is about discovering whether you love the space. The private viewing is where we can start getting into the nitty-gritty.
